What is CEPA?

The India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) enables zero or reduced import duty on thousands of Indian products into UAE. Signed in 2022, it covers fresh produce, medical devices, textiles, and many more categories.

Who Benefits?

UAE importers of Indian goods. Alphonso mango buyers, medical consumable distributors, general cargo importers. If your product has an MFN duty rate and is covered by CEPA, you should be paying 0% — not 5%.

How Much You Save

Standard MFN duty is 5% for most produce and medical consumables. Under CEPA, this drops to 0%. On a shipment worth AED 300,000, that's AED 15,000 saved — per shipment.

FAQ

Common CEPA Questions

What is CEPA Form-I?
Form-I is the Certificate of Origin under the India-UAE CEPA. It must be issued by an authorized Indian body and submitted to UAE customs to claim the preferential 0% duty rate.
Do I need to apply for CEPA separately?
No separate registration is needed. The exporter in India must obtain a Form-I certificate from an authorized body (APEDA, FIEO, etc.) and the importer or their forwarder submits it at UAE customs.
What happens if Form-I is rejected?
Your shipment is assessed at the standard MFN rate (typically 5%). You cannot claim a refund retroactively in most cases. This is why filing correctly the first time matters.
Can Jazline file Form-I for any product?
Yes — for all covered products on the India-UAE CEPA schedule. We verify the HS code and CEPA eligibility before every shipment.
How long does CEPA Form-I take?
Our in-house filing is typically completed within 24-48 hours of receiving the required documents from the exporter.
What documents does Jazline need for Form-I?
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (draft), and manufacturer certificate of origin. We provide a checklist when you book with us.
